Can anyone help? I am totally dependent on Skype for calling internationally while I am living abroad, and this is a big and quite urgent problem for me. And the other is that sound output seems to be working just fine. I can vary each channel, but not the master. I will note two other things: One is that the master volume for internal mike un the Audio Devices utility is grayed out. Now let’s get to the reason why you are here, Where is the Microphone on MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. Tried adjusting dB levels in this panel, too. Under Audio Midi setup, tried each combination of format (44100 Hz v 48000 Hz) with 2ch-24, 20, 16 bit integer). I have also tried: In sound setting, messing with volume levels, and ambient noise reduction settings. I should note that we aren't picking up anything - no static, no clicks when we flick the mike with a fingernail, nada. and tried a bluetooth external microphone. We also did the following: checked sound settings to make sure nothing was muted, and that input was set to internal microphone reset PRAM tested in Skype, Dictation and Speech, etc. I took it back to the repair shop, where they checked to make sure that the mike had not been disabled physically during the hard drive replacement. My internal microphone on my Macbook Air is not working after I got a new hard drive and installed a new OS (first lion, then during mike trouble shooting, mountain lion).
